Video Painting Based on a Stabilized Time-Varying Flow Field (ACM)

Abstract:

We present a method for constructing 3D feature flow from video and its application to video stylization. Our method extracts smoothly aligned 3D vectors that describe the smallest variation of colors within a spatiotemporal video cube, and thus effectively preserves both spatial and temporal coherence in a relatively inexpensive manner. As an application of this flow field we present a particle-based video stylization technique to rerender the video in a feature enhancing, painterly style. Our method consists of per-pixel operations and is suitable for GPU implementation, which enables real-time video stylization.

On Consistent Inter-View Synthesis for Autostereoscopic Displays (ACM)

Abstract:

In this paper we present a novel stereo view synthesis algorithm that is highly accurate with respect to inter-view consistency, thus to enabling stereo contents to be viewed on the autostereoscopic displays. The algorithm finds identical occluded regions within each virtual view and aligns them together to extract a surrounding background layer. The background layer for each occluded region is then used with an exemplar based inpainting method to synthesize all virtual views simultaneously.

High-performance template tracking (ACM)

Abstract:

Tracking systems are important in computer vision, with applications in video surveillance, human computer interfaces (HCI), etc. Consumer graphics processing units (GPUs) have experienced an extraordinary evolution in both computing performance and programmability, leading to a greater use of the GPU for non-rendering applications, such as image processing and computer vision tasks. In this work we show an effective particle filtering implementation for real-time template tracking based on the use of a graphics card as a streaming architecture in a translation-rotation-scale model.

Real-time Detection of Colored Objects in Multiple Camera Streams with off-the-shelf Hardware Components (ACM)

Abstract:

We describe RTblob, a high speed vision system that detects objects in cluttered scenes based on their color and shape at a speed of over 800 frames/s. Because the system is available as open-source software and relies only on off-the-shelf PC hardware components, it can provide the basis for multiple application scenarios. As an illustrative example, we show how RTblob can be used in a robotic table tennis scenario to estimate ball trajectories through 3D space simultaneously from four cameras images at a speed of 200 Hz.
