My OpenACC and CUDA tutorials at the European-US Summer School in Dublin, Ireland could not have been more successful. There was sufficient interest that I dedicated my workshop on the second day (three hours) to OpenACC. At the moment, OpenACC seems to be a hit! Most students see OpenACC as a viable path to GPU acceleration for their scientific codes if they do not use OpenCL or CUDA.
Over forty attended each of my two workshops. The students were of very high quality ranging from late in their PhD studies to recent graduates and post-docs. There was a 4 to 1 application to acceptance ratio (meaning over 240 students applied for 60 positions) to the summer schoold. However, the ratio was higher for some countries as only 30 students were allowed from the US and 30 from Europe. Following is a unique list of the countries/nationalities represented:
